15/9/11 - Chile battles youth unrest and typhoid fever outbreak

September 15, 2011 – SANTIAGO – Chile’s problems dealing with youth unrest over slow education reforms are being compounded by concerns the capital may be in the grip of a typhoid fever outbreak. The government has battled to enforce restraint on law enforcement agencies amid angry student-led protests, which have disrupted urban centers across the country for more than a month. The reforms demanded by youth groups are nowhere near being implemented and protests continue to simmer with support from teachers and workers unions. Now authorities are faced with the more immediate risk of typhoid. Health authorities issued repeated alerts for tougher hygiene checks and controls after they found several people infected and seriously ill with typhoid in the western metropolitan area of Santiago. At least seven cases were confirmed by the Public Health Institute but there were no immediate reports of fatalities. “Typhoid fever is an acute infectious disease triggered by a salmonella bacteria strain,” Institute Director Maria Teresa Valenzuela said. In most cases the infection is caused by consumption of contaminated food and drink or fruit and vegetables grown in areas where contaminated water is used in irrigation. Typhoid fever produces symptoms of high fever, diarrhea or intense headaches. The Santiago region has been prone to typhoid outbreaks since the 1990s when incidence of the disease caused up to 190 cases a year. –Terra Daily

15/9/11 - Scientists warn strains of influenza becoming resistant to common treatments

September 15, 2011 – LONDON – “Certain strains of influenza are becoming resistant to common treatments,” said Ira M. Longini, a professor of biostatistics in the University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions, the UF College of Medicine, and the UF Emerging Pathogens Institute. “We’ve been able to map out globally how this phenomenon is happening.” Longini is among a team of researchers who have published this month in the Royal Society journal Interface and explain how seasonal H1N1 influenza became resistant to oseltamivir, otherwise known as Tamiflu, the most widely used antiviral agent for treating and preventing flu. The scientists say that a combination of genetic mutations and human migration through air travel can lead to the rapid global spread of drug-resistant strains. “If you see resistant strains in parts of the world where no one is taking antiviral drugs, that’s the smoking gun that the resistant strain must be transmitting,” said Longini, who also worked on this research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. In some situations, drug-resistant bacteria and viruses can spread when drugs are overused. The scientists explored this theory using a mathematical model that simulates the spread of influenza across 321 cities connected by air travel. Using this model, they found that oseltamivir use had not been nearly widespread enough to promote the spread of antiviral resistance after it arose. However, the resistant strain probably originated in one person taking the drug. “Oseltamivir is an important prophylactic, or preventative agent, against future flu viruses, including a potential H5N1, or ‘bird flu,’ pandemic,” said Dennis Chao, the lead author of the paper and a staff scientist at the Center for Statistics and Quantitative Infectious Diseases at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. However, influenza can mutate, making the drug less effective. It had been believed that this mutation would not spread because it makes the flu less transmissible in people not taking the drug. “The fact that it spread so quickly in seasonal H1N1 between 2006 and 2008 took everyone by surprise,” Chao said. The researchers say that the mutation may have “hitchhiked” on one or more other mutations that made the drug-resistant influenza strain more transmissible. They suggest that because strains of influenza turn over so rapidly, there are many opportunities for these types of mutations to arise in an otherwise highly transmissible strain and become widespread, and it can become the dominant strain within a couple of years, making the drug useless. “For the next pandemic, we should have all the available drugs at our disposal as a first line of defense to both prevent infection and to treat the most vulnerable,” Longini said. “Or else, the chance that the next pandemic influenza strain is resistant goes up. 14/9/11 - Denver International Airport Conspiracy

Denver had a completely functioning airport called Stapleton but it was shut down soon as this ‘new’ airport was opened. The new airport has no significant advances to airport trafficking. The budget was 1.7 billion dollars for the new Denver Airport. But after it was all said and done it was 3.1 billion dollars over budget! It ended up costing 4.8 billion dollars.. Here is where the conspiracy starts; it was completely funded by a private source!


The original design for Denver Airport was to be five pentagon shaped buildings ranging from sixty feet deep to over a hundred and twenty feet deep which is about twelve stories deep! After these pentagon buildings were built they decided that the design was not effective and then they built on-top of these pentagon buildings! This was never done before in construction history. If you ask any of the workers about the construction; they will tell you nothing! Now the airport claims that these underground buildings are for storage only.


Now doesn’t it seem weird that this massive underground storage area is unused and that the employees can’t speak about it? Now most of the construction workers claim that they were closely monitored and were only contracted for only a small period of time. They would let all the workers go only after a couple months and then they would hire a new group. This eliminated the possibility of anyone fully understanding what was going on at the airport! Some of the workers that did talk; said the underground tunnels were big enough to fit buses inside but they were not able too see where they went. When the airport was completely done, they moved over 330,000,000 cubic feet of dirt which is roughly 1/3 of the amount which was moved for the Panama Canal.


Now the fuel delivery system can pump over 1,000 gallons of fuel per minute and with fuel tanks that can hold over 2.73 million gallons. Now what is the reason for this crazy system when the airport doesn’t receive that much traffic yearly? Now this airport construction consists of a concrete base with a free floating frame with pivotal support beams; which means it was built for extreme movement equal to a server earthquake or nuclear blast! Well known elites have purchased property to this airport, including the Queen of England! I think this is to ensure the easy access to these safe underground bunkers when shit hits the fan!


Now if the privately funded underground tunnel networks and all the workers which were sworn to secrecy was not strange enough.. It gets even weirder; there is a number of strange apocalyptic paintings and masonic symbols across the entire airport! For example:

The airport facilities themselves raised a ton of questions regarding the true purpose of the mega-structure. Numerous “creative” theories are floating around the DIA regarding underground military bases, aliens and/or reptilian creatures. While I’m aware that anything is possible, we will stick to the documented facts.




The airport was built in 1995 on 34,000 acres. Its construction forced the Stapleton International airport to shut down, although it used more gates and runways than the DIA. The initial cost of construction was 1.7 billion $ but the final project elevated the bill to 4.8 billion: 3.1 BILLION $ over budget. Numerous irregularities have been reported regarding the construction of the site:




Different contractors have been hired for different parts of the airport. They’ve all been fired after their job was done. This lead observers to believe that it was a strategy to make sure nobody had the full scope of the project.




110 million cubic yards of earth have been moved, way more than usually required. This arose suspicion of construction taking place underground.




5300 miles of fiber optics were installed for communications (USA coast to coast is 3000 miles in comparison).




Fueling system that can pump 1000 gallons of jet fuel per minute. This amount is totally absurd for a commercial airport.




Granite imported from all over the world even if the project was already grossly over budget.
Construction of a huge tunnel system (trucks can circulate in them) and underground trains. Most of those aren’t used at the moment.




Analysis of the data available makes me reach at least one conclusion: this gigantic structure will eventually become much more than a regular commercial airport. It has the capacity to handle a huge amount of people and vehicles, leading observers to think that the structure might be used as military base and others even add that it will be used as a civilian concentration camp in the near future. I will not advance on this subject because I do not have proof of those claims. I however would understand why such plans would be top secret. Let’s look at the soothing, traveler-friendly art on display at the DIA.

I would really like to visit this airport but I doubt ill be going to Denver anytime soon.. No doubt in my mind; there is something very weird about this airport which no one is talking about! Could it be bunkers for the elite or a secret prison camp? No is really sure and none of the workers are talking about it.. September 14, 2011 – LONDON – Multidrug-resistant and extensively drug-resistant forms of tuberculosis (TB) are spreading at an alarming rate in Europe and will kill thousands unless health authorities halt the pandemic, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Wednesday. Launching a new regional plan to find, diagnose and treat cases of the airborne infectious disease more effectively, the WHO’s European director warned that complacency had allowed a resurgence of TB and failure to tackle it now would mean huge human and economic costs in the future. “TB is an old disease that never went away, and now it is evolving with a vengeance,” said Zsuzsanna Jakab, the WHO’s Regional Director for Europe. “The numbers are scary,” Lucica Ditiu, executive secretary of the Stop TB Partnership told a news conference in London. “This is a very dramatic situation.” TB is currently a worldwide pandemic that kills around 1.7 million people a year. The infection is caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis and destroys patients’ lung tissue, causing them to cough up the bacteria, which then spreads through the air and can be inhaled by others. Cases of multidrug-resistant (MDR-TB) and extensively drug-resistant TB (XDR-TB) — where the infections are resistant to first-line and then second-line antibiotic treatments — are spreading fast, with about 440,000 new patients every year around the world.  According to the WHO and Stop TB, 15 of the 27 countries with the highest burden of MDR-TB are in the WHO’s European region, which includes 53 countries in Europe and Central Asia. More than 80,000 MDR-TB cases occur in the region each year — almost a fifth of the world’s total. The WHO said precise figures for XDR-TB are not available because most countries lack the facilities to diagnose it, but officially reported cases of XDR-TB increased six-fold between 2008 and 2009. Rates are highest in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, but many countries in Western Europe have increasing rates of TB and drug-resistant TB, Ditiu said. Britain’s capital, London, has the highest TB rate of any capital city in Western Europe with around 3,500 cases a year, 2 percent of which are MDR-TB. Treating even normal TB is a long and unpleasant process, with patients needing to take a combination of powerful antibiotics for 6 months. Many patients fail to correctly complete the course of medicines, a factor which has fueled a rise in drug-resistant forms of the disease. Treatment regimes for MDR-TB and XDR-TB can stretch into two or more years, costing up to $16,000 in drugs alone and up to $200,000 to $300,000 per patient if isolation hospital costs, medical care and other resources are taken into account. Experts say around 7 percent of patients with straightforward TB die, and that death rate rises to around 50 percent of patients with drug-resistant forms. The pioneering British computer genius Alan Turing, one of the team who created the primitive computers that cracked the German Enigma code, had a simple test for a machine that could 'think'. The computer had to be able to fool human beings into thinking they were talking to a person, not a machine.
At the Techniche computer festival in Guwahati in India this week, software called Cleverbot succeeded in fooling 59.3 per cent of 1,334 voters that it was a human being - far more than had participated in any previous official 'Turing test'. Has someone finally created an intelligent machine?
'You could argue that by fooling more than 50 per cent of the people, Cleverbot has passed a Turing test,' says the software's British creator, Rollo Carpenter, talking to Mail Online today.
'But there is no universal test,' says Carpenter. 'And it is the subject of endless debate. The approach we used was less 'academic' than many.'
Turing's original 'test' was proposed in a 1950 academic paper which asked, famously, 'Can machines think?' Although controversial, the 'test' remains crucial to our ideas of artificial intelligence - but this round is by no means a definitive 'win' for machine versus Man.

Scientists have found a new way to make gelatin. Human-derived jelly baby anyone ? With interest in artificial food on the increase following the recent announcement that the first artificial burger might be available within six months, researchers in Beijing have announced that they've discovered a way to grow large amounts of human based gelatin. Gelatin has a long history of use as a gelling agent by the food industry – and, according to the journal’s publisher, the American Chemical Society, human-derived gelatin “could become a substitute for some of the 300,000 tons of animal-based gelatin produced annually for desserts, marshmallows, candy and innumerable other products”.

Taboo? In future sweets could be made using human-derived gelatin.

Reports last week that researchers could be just six months away from producing the world’s first artificial meat, using thousands of stem cells bred in a laboratory, sent a wave of fascination around the world. Yet there is an even more ghoulish prospect ahead: the idea of eating artificial food made from humans.

This may sound like science fiction, yet a new technique for making gelatin from human DNA is attracting “increasing interest from research and industrial circles”, according to a new study by scientists from the Beijing University of Chemical Technology. The paper, published recently in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry, revealed that successful experiments had been carried out in which human genes were inserted into a strain of yeast to “grow” large amounts of recombinant (genetically engineered) human gelatin.

Gelatin has a long history of use as a gelling agent by the food industry – and, according to the journal’s publisher, the American Chemical Society, human-derived gelatin “could become a substitute for some of the 300,000 tons of animal-based gelatin produced annually for desserts, marshmallows, candy and innumerable other products”.

There would be safety issues to consider. When an ice-cream parlour in London began selling flavours derived from human breast milk earlier this year, it was soon withdrawn for hygiene reasons. The Food Standards Agency said: “There would be a restriction on the sale or import of this type of product, because it would require a pre-market safety assessment.”

However, scientists do not believe that the new gelatin product would pose any risk. “There’s a very high degree of similarity between gelatin that comes from a cow, a pig, and a human,” explains Dr David Olsen, senior scientist at FibroGen, which specialises in recombinant gelatins. “So due to their similarities, I can’t see why there would be a health risk to it. It’s a very similar protein to what people have been ingesting for many years.”

In fact, human-derived gelatin is already in use by the pharmaceutical industry in the manufacture of certain pills and vaccines. The highly controlled production techniques of the laboratory offer a more consistent product than “traditional” gelatin, which is made from the bones and skin of pigs and cows. More broadly, human genes are used by pharmaceutical firms in the production of insulin for diabetics, human growth hormone, and erythropoietin, which is used to treat anaemia.

In fact, the Beijing University scientists believe their method offers many health advantages over animal-derived gelatin. Researchers from the Sapporo Medical University of Japan have reported an increase in allergic reactions to animal-derived gelatin in vaccines, but such a response to human material is less likely. Moreover, the risk of gelatin transmitting animal-borne diseases such as BSE would be eliminated.

It remains to be seen, however, whether there is an appetite for human protein among the wider public. Dr Gregory Kaebnick, of the US-based Hastings Center for bioethics and public policy, says the idea of human-derived gelatin “appears to raise the question of cannibalism”, even though such concerns may be misplaced. “The gelatin is not derived from human tissue in the same way that animal gelatin is,” he says. “It’s really derived from yeast – yeast that have been modified with genetic sequences found in human beings.”

This difference may help remove the taboo borne by human-derived food products. “You really wouldn’t see it or recognise it,” says Dr Olsen. “It would almost be part of whatever the food is, and you wouldn’t notice the difference.”

Either way, it won’t appear in the organic aisle any time soon.
