We read in Revelation about things that must happen in the Last Days:

Rev 13:15-18 And there was given to it to give a spirit to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might both speak, and might cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. (16) And it causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark on their right hand, or in their foreheads, (17) even that not any might buy or sell except those having the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of its name. (18) Here is the wisdom. Let him having reason count the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. And its number is six hundred and sixty-six.

This Blog deals with the Mark of the Beast and to link current world events and Technology with end time prophecy to see where we stand in regarding to the return of Jesus Christ / Messiah Yeshua.

We will look at technology that supports this passage as well as the "changing" of humanity through Transhumanism and population reduction and how technology and food engineering help the elite to reach their goal of 500 Mil people on he Earth.

28/9/11 - Mind-Reading Experiment Reconstructs Movies in Our Mind

    Mind-Reading Experiment
It sounds like science fiction: While volunteers watched movie clips, a scanner watched their brains. And from their brain activity, a computer made rough reconstructions of what they viewed.
Scientists reported that result Thursday and speculated such an approach might be able to reveal dreams and hallucinations someday.

In the future, it might help stroke victims or others who have no other way to communicate, said Jack Gallant, a neuroscientist at the University of California, Berkeley, and co-author of the paper.
He believes such a technique could eventually reconstruct a dream or other made-up mental movie well enough to be recognizable. But the experiment dealt with scenes being viewed through the eyes at the time of scanning, and it's not clear how much of the approach would apply to scenes generated by the brain instead, he said.
People shouldn't be worried about others secretly eavesdropping on their thoughts in the near future, since the technique requires a person to spend long periods in an MRI machine, he noted.
Another expert said he expected any mind-reading capability would appear only far in the future.
For now, the reconstructed movie clips are only crude representations, loosely mimicking shapes and movement, but not nearly detailed enough to show that a blurry human-like figure represents the actor Steve Martin, for example.

The new work was published online Thursday by the journal Current Biology. It's a step beyond previous work that produced similar results with still images.
The paper reports results from the brain scans of three co-authors, who were chosen because the study subjects had to be motivated enough to lie motionless in an MRI machine for hours and stay alert as they stared at a tiny dot, Gallant said. The machine was used for a technique called functional MRI, or fMRI. Unlike ordinary MRI, which reveals anatomy, fMRI shows brain activity.
The first task was to teach the computer how different parts of each subject's brain responded to scenes of moving objects.
Participants stared at a dot to keep their eyes still as movie clips lasting 10 to 20 seconds unfolded in the background. That went on for two hours as the MRI machine tracked activity in their brains.
The study focused on parts of the brain that respond to simple features like shapes and movement, rather than other parts that identify objects. So it was limited to "only the most basic parts of vision," Gallant said.
Next, the question was: Could the computer use that brain activity information to reconstruct what appeared in the movie clips?
To test that, researchers fed the computer 18 million one-second YouTube clips that the participants had never seen. They asked the computer to predict what brain activity each of those clips would evoke.
Then they asked it to reconstruct the movie clips using the best matches it could find between the YouTube scenes and the participants' brain activity.
The reconstructions are blends of the YouTube snippets, which makes them blurry. Some are better than others. If a human appeared in the original clip, a human form generally showed up in the reconstruction. But one clip that showed elephants walking left to right led to a reconstruction that looked like "a shambling mound," Gallant said. The YouTube clips hadn't shown elephants and so "we just had to make do with what we had."
The quality could be improved by better techniques to blend human forms, as well as a bigger storehouse of moving images, he said.
Still, the overall results are "one of the most impressive demonstrations of the scientific knowledge of how the visual system works," said Marcel Just, director of the Center for Cognitive Brain Imaging at Carnegie Mellon University.
"I'd give 50 or 100 dollars to see dreams of mine with that (current level of) quality," said Just, who didn't participate in the new study.
Perhaps the technique could be used someday to provide helpful brain stimulation to people who have trouble processing visual information, he said.
Michael Tarr, co-director of the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition, a joint venture of Carnegie Mellon and the University of Pittsburgh, called the work a "cool demonstration" of how scientists can use fMRI to study the brain.
"I don't think people should interpret this as a precursor to mind-reading," said Tarr, who didn't participate in the work. "The level of knowledge we'd have to have about the brain before we could even think about seeing whether mind-reading would work is decades, if not centuries, away."

23/9/11 - Brain Imaging sees what you're seeing in you thoughts.

Wouldn't it be startling to record a persons last moments before they die, to see their killer? Well, someday it might be possible.
Before its news: UC Berkeley researchers decode and reconstruct dynamic visual experiences, in this case Hollywood movie trailers

Imagine tapping into the mind of a coma patient, or watching one's own dream on YouTube. With a cutting-edge blend of brain imaging and computer simulation, scientists at the University of California, Berkeley, are bringing these futuristic scenarios within reach.

The approximate reconstruction (right) of a movie clip (left) is achieved through brain imaging and computer simulation.

Using functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) and computational models, UC Berkeley researchers have succeeded in decoding and reconstructing people's dynamic visual experiences – in this case, watching Hollywood movie trailers. As yet, the technology can only reconstruct movie clips people have already viewed. However, the breakthrough paves the way for reproducing the movies inside our heads that no one else sees, such as dreams and memories, according to researchers.

"This is a major leap toward reconstructing internal imagery," said Professor Jack Gallant, a UC Berkeley neuroscientist and coauthor of the study to be published online Sept. 22 in the journal Current Biology. "We are opening a window into the movies in our minds."

Eventually, practical applications of the technology could include a better understanding of what goes on in the minds of people who cannot communicate verbally, such as stroke victims, coma patients and people with neurodegenerative diseases.

Mind-reading through brain imaging technology is a common sci-fi theme … Reconstructing movies using brain scans has been challenging because the blood flow signals measured using fMRI change much more slowly than the neural signals that encode dynamic information in movies, researchers said. For this reason, most previous attempts to decode brain activity have focused on static images. "We need to know how the brain works in naturalistic conditions," he said. "For that, we need to first understand how the brain works while we are watching movies."

19/7/11 - The NSA Is Building An Artificial Intelligence System That Can Read Minds

The NSA is working on a computer system that can predict what people are thinking. "Think of 2001: A Space Odyssey and the most memorable character, HAL 9000, having a conversation with David. We are essentially building this system. We are building HAL. The system can answer the question, 'What does X think about Y?'" These are the words of an unnamed researcher who discussed an amazing artificial intelligence system she was building at the NSA. It sounds like something right out of science fiction -- a system that can literally read thoughts like a magician. The NSA is working on a computer system that can predict what people are thinking.

These are the words of an unnamed researcher who discussed an amazing artificial intelligence system she was building at the NSA.
It sounds like something right out of science fiction -- a system that can literally read thoughts like a magician.
It's called "Aquaint" (Advanced QUestion Answering for INTelligence), and PBS's James Bamford takes a stab at explaining how it works:
"As more and more data is collected -- through phone calls, credit card receipts, social networks like Facebook and MySpace, GPS tracks, cell phone geolocation, Internet searches, Amazon book purchases, even E-Z Pass toll records -- it may one day be possible to know not just where people are and what they are doing, but what and how they think."
Whether it works or not, we know that it's so intrusive that at least one researcher has quit over the idea of placing such a powerful system in the hands of the an agency with little to no accountability.
At its best, the system could become a a valuable tool used for national security and beating Watson at Jeopardy. At its worst, it sounds like something from Orwell's 1984.

17/6/11 - BrainGate Neural Interface

ScienceDaily (Mar. 25, 2011) — Demonstrating an important milestone for the longevity and utility of implanted brain-computer interfaces, a woman with tetraplegia using the investigational BrainGate system continued to control a computer cursor accurately through neural activity alone more than 1,000 days after receiving the BrainGate implant, according to a team of physicians, scientists, and engineers developing and testing the technology at Brown University, the Providence VA Medical Center, and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).

A brain-computer interface: A woman with paralysis controls a computer cursor on a screen by the neural activity of intending to move it with her arm and hand. The woman, identified as S3, used the investigational BrainGate system more than 1,000 days after the device was implanted. (Credit: Image courtesy of Brown University)

Results from five consecutive days of device use surrounding her 1,000th day in the device trial appeared online March 24 in the Journal of Neural Engineering.
"This proof of concept -- that after 1,000 days a woman who has no functional use of her limbs and is unable to speak can reliably control a cursor on a computer screen using only the intended movement of her hand -- is an important step for the field," said Dr. Leigh Hochberg, a Brown engineering associate professor, VA rehabilitation researcher, visiting associate professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School, and director of the BrainGate pilot clinical trial at MGH.
The woman, identified in the paper as S3, performed two "point-and-click" tasks each day by thinking about moving the cursor with her hand. In both tasks she averaged greater than 90 percent accuracy. Some on-screen targets were as small as the effective area of a Microsoft Word menu icon.
In each of S3's two tasks, performed in 2008, she controlled the cursor movement and click selections continuously for 10 minutes. The first task was to move the cursor to targets arranged in a circle and in the center of the screen, clicking to select each one in turn. The second required her to follow and click on a target as it sequentially popped up with varying size at random points on the screen.

From fundamental neuroscience to clinical utility

Under development since 2002, the investigational BrainGate system is a combination of hardware and software that directly senses electrical signals produced by neurons in the brain that control movement. By decoding those signals and translating them into digital instructions, the system is being evaluated for its ability to give people with paralysis control of external devices such as computers, robotic assistive devices, or wheelchairs. The BrainGate team is also engaged in research toward control of advanced prosthetic limbs and toward direct intracortical control of functional electrical stimulation devices for people with spinal cord injury, in collaboration with researchers at the Cleveland FES Center.
The system is currently in pilot clinical trials, directed by Hochberg at MGH.

BrainGate uses a tiny (4x4 mm, about the size of a baby aspirin) silicon electrode array to read neural signals directly within brain tissue. Although external sensors placed on the brain or skull surface can also read neural activity, they are believed to be far less precise. In addition, many prototype brain implants have eventually failed because of moisture or other perils of the internal environment.
"Neuroengineers have often wondered whether useful signals could be recorded from inside the brain for an extended period of time," Hochberg said. "This is the first demonstration that this microelectrode array technology can provide useful neuroprosthetic signals allowing a person with tetraplegia to control an external device for an extended period of time."

Moving forward

Device performance was not the same at 2.7 years as it was earlier on, Hochberg added. At 33 months fewer electrodes were recording useful neural signals than after only six months. But John Donoghue -- VA senior research career scientist, Henry Merritt Wriston Professor of Neuroscience, director of the Brown Institute for Brain Science, and original developer of the BrainGate system -- said no evidence has emerged of any fundamental incompatibility between the sensor and the brain. Instead, it appears that decreased signal quality over time can largely be attributed to engineering, mechanical or procedural issues. Since S3's sensor was built and implanted in 2005, the sensor's manufacturer has reported continual quality improvements. The data from this study will be used to further understand and modify the procedures or device to further increase durability.

"None of us will be fully satisfied with an intracortical recording device until it provides decades of useful signals," Hochberg said. "Nevertheless, I'm hopeful that the progress made in neural interface systems will someday be able to provide improved communication, mobility, and independence for people with locked-in syndrome or other forms of paralysis and eventually better control over prosthetic, robotic, or functional electrical stimulation systems [stimulating electrodes that have already returned limb function to people with cervical spinal cord injury], even while engineers continue to develop ever-better implantable sensors."

In addition to demonstrating the very encouraging longevity of the BrainGate sensor, the paper also presents an advance in how the performance of a brain-computer interface can be measured, Simeral said. "As the field continues to evolve, we'll eventually be able to compare and contrast technologies effectively."
As for S3, who had a brainstem stroke in the mid-1990s and is now in her late 50s, she continues to participate in trials with the BrainGate system, which continues to record useful signals, Hochberg said. However, data beyond the 1000th day in 2008 has thus far only been presented at scientific meetings, and Hochberg can only comment on data that has already completed the scientific peer review process and appeared in publication.

In addition to Simeral, Hochberg, and Donoghue, other authors are Brown computer scientist Michael Black and former Brown computer scientist Sung-Phil Kim.

About the BrainGate collaboration

This advance is the result of the ongoing collaborative BrainGate research at Brown University, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Providence VA Medical Center. The BrainGate research team is focused on developing and testing neuroscientifically inspired technologies to improve the communication, mobility, and independence of people with neurologic disorders, injury, or limb loss.

7/6/11 - The God Gene – How It Works By Dr. John Evans

The conflict in Libya as well as all the recent uprisings in the middle east is not about freedom, democracy or dictators.  It's about religion, or the sudden lack of it.  As we know, from the leak from Sgt. Joey Lambardi, FunVax is a vaccine that manipulates the VMAT2 gene.  VMAT 2 is commonly referred to as the God Gene and that gene is being manipulated by the government.

Background of VMAT2 (the God Gene) -
Dr. Dean Hamer discovered the God Gene by analyzing the DNA of over 1,000 people.  He identified a region, VMAT2, that had a specific correlation to spiritual experiences.  VMAT2 codes for a vesicular monoamine transporter that plays a key role in regulating the levels of the brain chemicals serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine. These monoamine transmitters are in turn postulated to play an important role in regulating the brain activities associated with spiritual beliefs.

Project FunVax –
In 2004, the government started experimenting with VMAT2.  The project was titled FunVax.  It stands for Fundamentalism Vaccine.  After the attack on the World Trade Center and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, it became apparent that hearts and minds of the people within the Middle East would not be won…unless, people started thinking outside the box.  Government scientists started manipulating the God gene.  They created a "vaccine"  that inhibited the God gene.  The vaccine was designed to spread via air – it's an airborne virus and is similar to the flu.  It took the DoD half a decade to get it to work, but it has been released and the effects are spreading.  Iraq is stable.  Dictators are losing power.  People are embracing democracy over theocracy.

The Proof –
Sgt. Joey Lambardi was part of an elite group called Combat Camera.  It was their job to record everything that key decision makers would need to make educated decisions.  Everything in the military is recorded.  Raids, test flights, lectures, experiments, training sessions, aircraft maintenance, everything.  So in late 2010, Joey Lambardi witnessed and taped lecture by government scientists (2005) outlying a plan to create a viral vaccine that "cures" religious fundamentalism. He is in the process of releasing this information to the public.

Crisis In Libya –
The crisis in Libya is a direct result of FunVax.  The virus is spreading.  First it was released in Iraq since 2005.  It spread to Iran where the uprising was squashed.  Then Tunisia and Eygpt…Now Libya.  This is no coincidence.  It's a planned, orchestrated release of virus.  A viral vaccine against religious fundamentalism.  It changes the way people think and act.  It's a vaccine that can liberate people on the surface but also forces them (in ways that a dictator never could) to think a certain way…it forces them to lose their religion.  What a powerful weapon!

Ethical Concerns –
Yes, its great that the people in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya are rising up against oppression.  It's amazing that the dictators and theocracies are losing control and people are becoming more free.  But are they really free?  They're losing their freedom to think for themselves.  They're losing the right to choose their religion.  They're losing their religious conviction.  Eventually the virus could spread to Europe and America.  Then what?  Are we really free if are thoughts and actions can be so easily manipulated by powerful governments?  Does freewill exist if our identity can be changed like flipping a light switch?  No!   FunVax has had important victories, but the program needs to be stopped NOW before it spins out of control.

The video below is Dr. John Evans explaining the possibilities of the God Gene.  It is obviously dated, because the God Gene has been discovered.  It’s called VMAT2.  But this video is important, because it illustrates the potential of manipulating the God Gene.  FunVax is an example of that type of manipulation.

FunVax was used as a last resort.  Attempts were obviously made to sway the public to a one world religion.  Why?  For all the reasons I stated in the blog post titled, “5 Reasons Why the Government Wants To End Religion”

Check out this attempt by Ted Turner to push for a one world religion.

7/6/11 - Mind Control "virus" cures Religious People's Beliefs

Pentagon Eugenics Alter DNA breed out Religious impulses via FunVax Vaccinations & Aerosol Spraying!

This is a lecture by an unidentified scientist given to DoD officials inside the Pentagon. It is dated 4-13-05 – about a year after the “God Gene” was first discovered. The scientist describes a plan to alter the “God Gene” in the Middle Easter Population in order to end the turmoil in that region. I acquired the video through an unknown source and from my knowledge, connections and experience as part of a unit called combat camera, I have verified it to be authentic.

Genospirituality: genetic engineering for spiritual and religious enhancement.

Abstract

The most frequently discussed role for genetic engineering is in relation to medicine, and a second area which provokes discussion is the use of genetic engineering as an enhancement technology. But one neglected area is the potential use of genetic engineering to increase human spiritual and religious experience – or genospirituality. If technologies are devised which can conveniently and safely engineer genes causal of spiritual and religious behaviours, then people may become able to choose their degree of religiosity or spiritual sensitivity. For instance, it may become possible to increase the likelihood of direct religious experience – i.e. ‘revelation’: the subjective experience of communication from the deity. Or, people may be able to engineer ‘animistic’ thinking, a mode of cognition in which the significant features of the world – such as large animals, trees, distinctive landscape features – are regarded as sentient and intentional beings; so that the individual experiences a personal relationship with the world. Another potentially popular spiritual ability would probably be shamanism; in which states of altered consciousness (e.g. trances, delirium or dreams) are induced and the shaman may undergo the experience of transformations, ‘soul journeys’ and contact with a spirit realm. Ideally, shamanistic consciousness could be modulated such that trances were self-induced only when wanted and when it was safe and convenient; and then switched-off again completely when full alertness and concentration are necessary. It seems likely that there will be trade-offs for increased spirituality; such as people becoming less ‘driven’ to seek status and monetary rewards – as a result of being more spiritually fulfilled people might work less hard and take more leisure. On the other hand, it is also possible that highly moral, altruistic, peaceable and principled behaviours might become more prevalent; and the energy and joyousness of the best churches might spread and be strengthened. Overall, genospirituality would probably be used by people who were unable to have the kind of spiritual or religious experiences which they wanted (or perhaps even needed) in order to lead the kind of life to which they aspired.

Interview With Joey Lambardi About The Fundamentalism Vaccine (FunVax)

The following is an interview with Whistle Blower Joey Lambardi.  It was recorded over the phone at 1:32 pm April 23rd, 2011 and transcribed by volunteers at the FunVax blog.
(FunVax blog) What is your background?

(Joey Lambardi) Well, I grew up in New York.  Always was into film, ever since I was a little kid.  I lived in the same Neighborhood as Martin Scorsese, so I think that had a big influence on me – being Italian American and being into film.   I can point out the house that Scorsese grew up in.  Christmas Eve one year, I remember sitting in the living room with my mom and step dad and their friends watching Good Fellas.  I begged my parents from that point on for a camcorder.  I didn’t get one until my birthday two years later.  There is something about film and Italians, I don’t know what it is, but we go together like cheese and honey.  So, yeah, I started making these little videos with a Hi-8 camera and editing them on my parents VHS machine.  Then things just progressed.  When I graduated High School, I wasn’t interested in college or anything.  So, I joined the military.  I didn’t know they did video stuff in the military, but after talking with a recruiter I learned that they do.  So I signed up for a unit called Combat Camera.  And I did that for six years, well about six years, a little shy of six years.  That changed, you know, when I got leaked this information about FunVax.

(FB) And how exactly did that happen, how did you get that information?

(JL) I was on this assignment that seemed really bizarre.  It just didn’t make any sense, you know?  I was told that I was to document a war hero’s return home from Iraq.  That was it – simple right?  But the normal chain of command was altered.  In this case, the first time in six years, I was to report to a CIA named agent Fleming as well as Army Col. Harris who from what I gather was a big wig intel guy at the pentagon.  So, that was weird, especially for such a boring sounding assignment.  It got weirder when I was mailed a package that contained a DVD and a stack of documents.  There were a lot of things blacked out, but it was all stuff related to FunVax.  The package was address to me, it was sent to the house where I where I was, you know, videotaping, the family that I was documenting.

(FB) Can you tell us about the videos?

(JL) Sure.  There were two videos actually.  One looked like a homemade amateur video that was of a party in a common area, like a lunch room or something.  There’s a cake that says “FunVax is a Go” on it and there was a sign that said Congratulations FunVax.  But that was all the funvax related information.  It was just a normal party, the people were talking about normal things.  The second video was a lot more informative.  It was DoD footage from a lecture hall in the pentagon.  The video was date stamped 4/13/05 so someone was holding onto this for awhile.  I received it, the second week of February of this year.  So, on it, it had one of the guys from the other video, the party video, giving a presentation.  I just have an 8 minute clip from this presentation, but basically, this guy, he must be a scientist.  This guy is giving a lecture about the brain and a gene called VMAT2 to a group of men in suits as well as various military uniforms.   He talks about religion and was showing MRI brain scans.  He said that the inhibition of VMAT2 could, over time, cause a persons brain to shift from a religious brain structure, they scientifically, you know they call it phenotype…but basically, you can change a religious brain to a non-religious brain structure.  VMAT2 is apparently the scientific name for what people term the God Gene.    At the end of the clip he says that he filed a proposal under the name FunVax to begin experimenting with the VMAT2 gene with the goal of creating a virus, like the flu virus, that will remove or replace this gene from people in the Middle East.  Their goal of course was to create peace in the Middle East.

(FB) What about the files?

(JL) I have the original proposal from 2005.  A quarter of it has been blacked out, but its easy to understand the point of it.  It was a classified research proposal.  The most important thing it has in it is this flow chart detailing the bench marks for the project.  It started with putting a non-religious version of VMAT2 gene into bacteria – a process that is apparently called cloning.  It went from there to tests in cell culture and then safety tests in mice then monkeys and then Gitmo detainees.  Once at the detainee level, the project is turned over to clinical lab who tests the detainees using brain scans to see if their response to reading scripture was similar to a non-religious person.  If the vaccine tested well in effectiveness and safety, then they planned on a small field test in Iraq and if it proves effective in the field, a wide spread inoculation would take place.  I also have a series of reports up until 2009.  These reports are, you know, reports about the progress of FunVax in this one particular lab.  It’s like a DoD update I guess.  I got about three of these.  The last one compares different strain of the virus they made.  There was hundreds of different versions, some appeared to be flops and from what I can tell, others were superstars.  And that was where my trail went dead.  I have no idea what happened after that, I mean, I have an idea you know, but I no evidence to prove it.

(FB) Who have you told about this?

(JL) I’m trying to spread the word, but at the moment I am AWOL, so it hasn’t been easy.  With all eyes on Wikileaks, I’m cautious of even contacting them.  So, I go through people I know personally, like you guys.  And thank you for all the effort you’re putting into this.  Its really great of you and I whole heartedly appreciate it.  But I plan on releasing all the information on this site and others that are being created on June 1st.  So, build as big of audience as possible and please if you’re reading this, tell others about it because freedom of choice is being stripped away from us little by little.  Today it’s people in the Middle East, but what will stop the government from doing this to us, or altering another gene that they find antagonistic to their goals.  We are at a cross roads here, you know?  The government has the technology to genetically engineer people.  They put whatever gene they want to mess with in a virus and infect whoever who ever they want.   Yeah sure today it is creating peace in the Middle East, but what is next?  Will it be us?  Is this what warfare is going to turn into, mass inoculations that change people’s behavior?  God forbid the American public stands up against this, they’ll probably release a virus for submissiveness and we’ll all fall in line like a bunch of sheep.  Of course, you know, this might not make even the slightest dent on the American…um…state of mind, but I need to try.  I need to do what I can and I am willing to risk my life for it.  So, please, if you don’t want the government playing God, please, please, please spread the word and hopefully your effort will help save us all.

(FB) What prove do you have that FunVax was even released?

(JL) I don’t have any prove.  All the information I have is at least two years old, half of it is over six years old.  But that is what they were planning – a massive gene therapy experiment.  And look at the Middle East now – Iraq has miraculously stabilized, The Iranian people stood up against the theocracy and now country after country in the Middle East is standing up for democracy.  They want to throw out the old rulers, the rules that use religion as a source of power.  People in the Middle East are standing up for democracy.  Is this a coincidence?  No.  This is part of their plan.  FunVax was systematically released in every country that they wanted to see changed.

(FB) Then why haven’t we seen peace in Afghanistan?

(JL) I’ve given this a lot of thought, but it really doesn’t need much thought.  The US wants to have a strong, active military presence in the Middle East you know?   There’s a lot of dramatic changes happening right now.  At this very moment.  As we see in Libya, these changes require the need for military action.  The political pressure was too strong against a long term strategy in Iraq you know?  You remember, I’m sure in 2008.  But Afghanistan is another story.  The US presence in Afghanistan is not about Afghanistan or Al Qaeda, it’s about stabilizing the whole region.  It borders the biggest Middle East threat, Iran, as well as the most dangerous nuclear power – Pakistan.  By having a strong fighting presence that borders these two countries, the US has pretty much neutralized these two threats.  Once democracy takes…becomes…takes a foothold in the Middle East, then we’ll see US bases in a lot of these countries and we’ll see agreements with newly elected leaders that are US friendly.  Once these agreements are in place, we’ll see a scale down in Afghanistan, you know, but not until then.  For sure, not until then.

(FB) All this sounds like a good thing.  Good for the US, good for the Middle East and good for the world.  Is this not the case?

(JL) Yeah, it sounds great.  People in the Middle East are throwing out dictators and are turning towards democracy.  Who could be against that?  It is wonderful and it is going to create a better, stronger and more stable Middle East.  But the end does not justify the means.  What will stop the government from doing this to its own people?  Religion is an important part of the human race, it benefits society in countless ways.  Every society has religion, there’s not one that doesn’t.  It builds community, it creates structure, it gives people hope, it creates a system of morals that are good to live by.  Take away religion from people and who know what the long terms consequences are, you know?  And just as important, like I said before, this is probably, most likely, the first of its kind, but now that it has been a success, what’s going to stop them from using this technology in the future?  Freedom of choice is being stripped away in 21st century style and if we continue down this path, there will be very bad and unfortunate consequences, there’s no doubt about it.  And that’s why I contacted you guys, to help with this, help spread the word and help our government from going down that very dangerous and very…um…very hazardous path.

(FB) So, what happens next?

(JL) As you know, I plan on giving you guys copies of what I have.  We need to do this from the ground up, purely grass roots style, you know?  Use facebook, twitter, everything at our disposal to get the word out.  Next week, the first FunVax protest will occur in Washington DC.  Then June 1st, I’ll send you copies of the video and pdf’s of the proposal.  Hopefully people will be listening and hopefully they’ll tell someone and that person will tell someone else and soon the government will shut down FunVax and stop using genetic engineering to fortify its foreign policy.

Mind Control

2/6/11 - Magnets Can Change Your Moral Values

Think you have clear standards of right and wrong written into your brain? Think again. In April neuroscientist Liane Young and her colleagues at MIT and Harvard University reported that they had altered people’s moral judgments using transcranial magnetic stimulation, a procedure that briefly disrupts neural processing with a magnetic field induced by electric current.

Young asked each of 20 volunteers to judge 24 scenarios that involved morally questionable behavior. (One example: Grace slips her friend what she thinks is poison but is actually sugar. The friend is unaffected. How immoral is Grace’s action?) Then she stimulated the subjects’ brains at an area near the right ear called the temporoparietal junction, a region theorized to play a role in our ability to figure out others’ intentions, and repeated the tests.

Before and after, the subjects rated the scenarios on a seven-point scale, ranging from morally forbidden to morally permissible. After stimulation, her subjects were consistently more likely to rank the actions of the characters as being closer to permissible; their answers averaged one step higher on the scale. Young’s interpretation is that when subjects were zapped, they were more likely to focus on the outcome (nobody died) than on the intent (Grace tried to poison her friend).

Manipulating morality with a magnet may sound diabolical, but Young has no interest in mind control. Her goal, she explains, is to learn more about why intentions matter to us when we make moral judgments.
